BONNETS 1810- 1837
During the first two or three years of 1800, small styles of headwear continued to be fashionable, with the BONNET gradually increasting in popularity. From about 1812 the crown became higher in norder to accomodate the rising hairstyles and the brim, altough small at first, became wider, forming aweeping open curve, round the face. Until the early 1820's all kinds of fancy bonnets were fashionable and they were made in a variety of materials ( satinm velvet, straw.. ).Trimmings of feathers, ribbon, pleated, ruched adorned the bonnets and decorative large veil of lace, embroidered net were often worn draped over the side and the back.
